Obituary

Douglas Smith, age 74, died March 21, 2019, at the Ohio Hospice unit at the Wexner Medical Center. He was a retired Columbus City Schools teacher who had taught for 32 years at Mifflin High School, where he also coached golf. He graduated from Lakewood High School in Lakewood, Ohio, and held a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. He was a former president of the Northeast Columbus Lions Club, of which he was a member for many years. Survivors include his companion of 37 years, Kay, and her four children, Holly, Mark, Scott (Marlyna), and Andrea; eight grandchildren and great-grandchild; brothers Robert and Bradley; sister-in-law Jan; niece Stacy and nephews Scott, Dan, Matt, and Drew and their spouses and children. Private family services will be held at a later time.
