Obituary

John Edgar Hammond Sr., age 89, formerly of 146 Orchard Lane, Columbus, Monday at the home of his son in Coshocton, Ohio. Retired engineer, Ohio Department of Transportation. Preceded in death of wife, Dorothy on August 21 of this year. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, John E. Jr. and Sophie Hammond, Coshocton, Ohio; David and Jane Hammond, Worthington; grandchildren, David Ann and Greg; nieces, Gertrude Walker, Beverly Hills, Mrs. Charles Laskey, Hubbard, Ohio; nephew, Tom W. Starker, Columbus. Member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Attended Earlham College and graduated from Ohio State University 1912 in Civil Engineering, 32nd Degree Mason, Smithfield, Ohio. Veteran of WWI and WWII with rank of major. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday St. John's Episcopal Church, Worthington. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
