Background
Members of the Pinney, Carruthers, Jewett and Rubright families are pictured in this photograph, taken at a family picnic. Elinora D. "Ella" Pinney Baker (b.1851 Worthington, OH d. 1925) wrote a poem describing the day's events. According to Ella's account, the picnic was hosted by a Mr.and Mrs. C. Her sister, Marietta A. "Etta" Pinney Carruthers, was married to Mr. Joseph P. Carruthers, who farmed a portion of the old Pinney homestead, located west of the Olentangy River near Carruthers Road in Sharon Township.
