Ohio Bicentennial Quilt Block

This is a quilt block created by the Worthington Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for an Ohio State Bicentennial quilt. The year 1968 is stitched on the quilt block indicating the year that the Worthington Chapter DAR was formed. Its design represents the early village of Worthington, Ohio. Stitching around the edge indicates the "Boundaries of Historic Worthington Founded in 1803" with the blue border outlining the boundaries of Old Worthington which are North Street, South Street, Morning Street and Evening Street. High Street, running north to south and Granville Road, running east to west are represented. The Village Green is identified in the center bounded by a stockade fence represented by the brown rickrack. The Toll Gate at the north entrance to the village is represented on the quilt block by the two red pillars with a gate-bar crossing High Street.
