Background
The United Methodist Children's Home is pictured here. The building on the right is Wesley Cottage, built as a new nursery in 1929. The cornerstone was laid on June 30, 1929 and dedicated by Bishop Lester Smith in December the same year. Initial funding for the building was raised by the churches of Columbus for a Columbus Cottage. Those funds were placed in the general funds of the Methodist Children's Home in Worthington. Construction of the nursery was also strongly supported by professional and businessmen of Columbus. For those reasons the structure was originally known as the Columbus Nursery Building.
