Barbara Goodell at the Northwest Library Pre-Opening Event
Basic details
Background
Worthington Libraries staff member Barbara Goodell (left) is shown here at the Northwest Library for a staff event that was held prior to opening day on April 16. Staff and their families were invited to tour the new library building.
The “Discovery Place” signs on the computers refer to a new catalog and circulation system the Worthington Libraries had shared with the Columbus Metropolitan and Southwest Public libraries since the beginning of 1994. The new partnership gave borrowers from any one of the libraries the ability to find, reserve and check out items from all three systems. Prior to the Discovery Place partnership, the Worthington Libraries had participated in a system that linked catalogs between the Worthington and Westerville libraries.
The Discovery Place partnership continued until 2013, when the Worthington, Columbus and Southwest libraries joined the Central Library Consortium, a group of 14 libraries in central Ohio that share a catalog and resources.
