Background

The Sharon Memorial Hall is located at 137 E Dublin-Granville Road and serves to commemorate current and former military service members of Worthington and Sharon Township as a whole. The colonial-style building is often noticed for its tall white columns as well as the cannon that sits on the front lawn. It was built around the year 1860 by Horace Wright, whose family occupied the home until 1940.

Sharon Township War Memorial Board of Trustees purchased the home in 1946 through a levy that passed the previous year. The building, dedicated on Armistice Day of 1947, initially provided specifically for the meeting needs of veteran, patriotic, and civic organizations. The hall closed briefly in 1954, but reopened the following year as a community center that allowed for individuals to rent the space rather than just organizations. From 1975 to 2009 the building served as the headquarters for the Sharon Township police as well as the offices of the Sharon Township trustees. The hall currently serves a variety of tenants and users.
