This portrait captures Jean Merrill, likely around the time of her wedding. Jean Merrill married John Haswell on February 25th, 1928 at age 24. In the Worthington News on March 1, 1928, it was noted that Jean Merrill had been a secretary at F.W. Scott Insurance Company located in the Suburban Building at 656 High Street in Worthington for the past three years. The article mentioned that she was "popular in the younger social circles in Worthington." A bridge shower was thrown after the wedding for the new Mrs. Haswell by Lella Decker and Dorothy Fuller at the home of Mrs. Howard Potter here in Worthington.
