Background
This black-and-white photograph shows three people seated around a study table, chatting with three more people standing in the foreground, at the Worthington Public Library’s National Library Week open house, held on April 28, 1968 at the Library’s then-location at 752 High Street. Behind the group are shelves displaying magazines.
According to "The 200-Year History of Worthington Libraries" by Lisa D. Fuller, "In 1968, the Library was open 10 hours longer each week, experienced a 12 percent rise in circulation, and began providing service to homebound patrons and the first preschool story hours."
The Library operated out of the 752 High Street location, also known as the Kilbourne Memorial Library, from 1927 to 1979, when the Old Worthington Library location opened in a newly constructed facility at 805 Hartford Street (now 820 High Street).
