Photograph of Crowd on Main Floor of the Old Worthington Library for Wedding, May 8, 1982
Basic details
Background
This color photograph shows a crowd gathered on the main floor of the Old Worthington Library on May 8, 1982, for librarian Rachel Alexander's wedding, which took place in the library. Approximately 20 people are visible in the picture, along with a staff desk in the foreground. Then-director Bernice Daniels is third-from-left in the foreground, wearing a green dress and holding a cup in front of her, looking down and to the side. The photograph was taken near the top of the stairs to the lower level looking east; in the background, shelves of books, a poster lending library and a banner with musical notes can be seen.
At the time, the Old Worthington Library was the only location of Worthington Libraries. Alexander's wedding to Bob Foulk took place that evening after the library closed, with food provided by staff and Worthington mayor Lawrence Braun serving as officiant.
Alexander worked for Worthington Libraries from 1976 to 1985, and again from 1997 to 2008; during that time she served many roles, including community services librarian, children’s librarian, youth services manager and youth services materials selector.
