Photograph of Bouquet Toss at Wedding in the Old Worthington Library, May 8, 1982
Basic details
Background
This color photograph shows librarian Rachel Alexander at her wedding, which took place at the Old Worthington Library on May 8, 1982, tossing the bouquet over her shoulder to a group of women gathered below. She stands on a balcony and a group of people stand around her watching; the women waiting to catch the bouquet are on the lower level of the building. This balcony no longer exists; it's been covered in a glass window and the space she throws the bouquet into is now part of the children's department at the library.
At the time, the Old Worthington Library was the only location of Worthington Libraries. Alexander's wedding to Bob Foulk took place that evening after the library closed, with food provided by staff and Worthington mayor Lawrence Braun serving as officiant.
Alexander worked for Worthington Libraries from 1976 to 1985, and again from 1997 to 2008; during that time she served many roles, including community services librarian, children’s librarian, youth services manager and youth services materials selector.
