They were written and arranged by John Snow, who served as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ohio from 1820-1823 and 1829, and also served as Master of New England Lodge from 1818-1822 and 1827-1831. Snow moved from Providence, Rhode Island to Worthington, Ohio in 1817. He was known nationally in the field of Freemasonry and is one of the most noted Masons in Ohio history.
