Program for the Worthington High School Production of "The Emperor's New Clothes"

This is the program for the Worthington High School production of "The Emperor's New Clothes." The play was presented on April 23, 24 and 25, 1976, at Evening Street Elementary School.

The cover shows an ink drawing of a man seated in a large chair with another man presenting him with two empty clothes hangers. The dates "'75-'76" and the title "WHS Thespians Presents The Emperor's New Clothes" appear at the top of the cover. The play was written by Wesley Van Tassel, with music and lyrics by Mark Ollington. Page two lists the cast and performance dates; page three lists dancers, scenes, production cast, and acknowledgements; and page four lists committees.

The production was directed by Bronwynn Hopton, who taught drama at Worthington High School/Thomas Worthington High School from 1973-2013. In 1988, she founded the Worthington High School Theatre Repertory. Countless alumni cite her influence for their love of theater, or even their professional success in the field. An October 24, 2010 "Columbus Dispatch" article quotes her as saying, "Theater is not just a superfluous after-school event, but something we study that deserves the same focus as science, math or history. " Her first name graces the Bronwynn Theatre at the McConnell Arts Center.
