Background

This is the first edition of the Worthington High School “Cardinal” yearbook. Eldon F. Scoutten was principal and Harold C. McCord was superintendent of Worthington schools. The yearbook features individual student photos for grades ten through twelve, and class photos for grades seven through nine. It also features photos of faculty and staff, as well as student council, clubs, activities and sports.

In 1942, Worthington High School was housed in the Packard Annex, which had been built in 1916 and served as the high school until 1952 when a new school was built to accommodate the post-World War II population boom. Designed by Columbus architect Frank Packard, the Annex is the current site of the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center.

Worthington High School had published yearbooks in the 1920s and early ‘30s under the title “The Oracle.”
