Video of Black Lives Matter Protesters Shouting "I Can't Breathe," June 3, 2020

This six-second video shows crowds at a Black Lives Matter protest on all four corners of the Village Green at 161 and High Street. Protesters hold signs and shout "I can't breathe." Passing cars honk to show their support.

The Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 began at the end of May, following the police killing of George Floyd along with a history of systemic racism and police brutality against Black people. Floyd died on May 25, 2020 in Minneapolis after being handcuffed and pinned to the ground under a policeman's knee. While he was pinned to the ground, Floyd repeatedly told officers "I can't breathe," which became a rallying cry for the protest movement following his murder. Tens of millions of people in cities across the United States and world participated in the protests. A July 3, 2020 article in "The New York Times" estimated that the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 may be the largest movement in United States history. Worthington was the site of several protests.
