Obituary

Pinehurst, NC-Colonel Elmer Irvin Caldwell, US Army Retired, age 89, died Monday at Manor Care in Pinehurst. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday 8-2-08 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Worthington, Ohio. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. He was born in a log cabin in Greenwood, WV to Charles Hamilton Caldwell and Myrtle Richards Caldwell. He served in WWII in North Africa, Anzio, Monte Casino, Northern Italy, Southern France and Germany. He served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War (Mekon Delta). He returned to Vietnam as State Department US AID. He was preceded in death by son, James Allen Caldwell. He is surved by wife, May Alice Wing Caldwell, sons Harold Ernest Caldwell and Curtis Irvin Caldwell. Arrangements by Boles Funeral Home of Pinehurst, Southern Pines, NC.
