Lewis E. (Ben) Hakes, age 70, 891 Oakland Park Ave., Monday, University Hospital. Retired foreman for Ranco, Inc. Survived by wife, Margaret McCord Hakes; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Stone of Columbus; granddaughters, Mrs. James (Constance) Cohogan, Centerburg; Mrs. Daniel (Bonnie) O'Brien, Columbus; 2 great-grandchildren, Wendy Cohagan and Christopher O'Brien; 6 sisters, 5 brothers. Member Ranco Old Timers Club, York Lodge No. 563 F&AM, Horace Wright Chapter RAM Zabud Council R and SM, Scioto Consistory AASR, Worthington Chapter OES. Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday at Rutherford-Corbin Chapel, 515 High St., Worthington. Rev. William Bowser officiating. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Contributions may be sent to the Heart Fund, Masonic services 8 p.m. Thursday.
