Attendees Gathered in Fireplace Area of the Old Worthington Library for a Wedding
Basic details
Background
This color photograph shows a crowd of people gathered in the fireplace area on the main floor of the Old Worthington Library for librarian Rachel Alexander's wedding, May 8, 1982. The photograph is taken from the corner of the room next to the fireplace and looking out over the crowd, towards the northeast area of the building. In the foreground are music stands and instruments including a musician holding a flute. Attendees sit and stand throughout the room, conversing and eating. Written on the wall at the far side of the wall is "Art Prints," next to the library's collection of art prints that were available to be borrowed.
At the time, the Old Worthington Library was the only location of Worthington Libraries. Alexander's wedding to Bob Foulk took place that evening after the library closed, with food provided by staff and Worthington mayor Lawrence Braun serving as officiant.
Alexander, who is visible at the center of the photo, kneeling and talking to two people in chairs, worked for Worthington Libraries from 1976 to 1985, and again from 1997 to 2008. During that time she served many roles, including community services librarian, children’s librarian, youth services manager and youth services materials selector.
