Bishop Vincent at Griswold Homestead
Basic details
Background
Bishop Boyd Vincent of the Diocese of Southern Ohio visited Worthington for the 100th anniversary of St. John's Episcopal Church of Worthington in 1904. He conducted services at this centennial service. The photograph was taken at the Griswold Homestead, formerly the Griswold Inn. The Inn was built in 1811 adjacent to the northeast quadrant of the Village Green. During the nineteenth century the Griswold Inn was a popular site of social gatherings and provided a convenient lodging location for travelers due to its location near the intersection of Rt. 161 and Rt. 23. It was razed in 1964, despite community efforts to save it. Bishop Vincent was a family friend of the Griswolds.
