Background

The 1956 edition of Worthington High School’s “The Cardinal” yearbook features photos of students, faculty, activities, sports, social events and candid snapshots. Glenn Williams served his first year as principal, and a dedication page in his honor adorns the third page; Harold C. McCord was superintendent of Worthington schools, and the yearbook includes brief biographies for them both. The senior class has their individual portraits included, while grades nine through eleven are featured in small group portrait photos staged around the school. Grades seven and eight are also featured in group photos.

Included in this edition—which has the theme Reflections—is an In Memoriam page dedicated to Garde Thompson, who passed away during the summer of 1951. In keeping with the theme, the yearbook also highlights each of the various elementary and junior high buildings which the senior class members would have attended.
