Background

The Chase Tavern was located on the west side of High Street, south of South Street. The building had previously been the old Parsons property. At the time of its opening, "Ye Olde Chase Tavern" was touted as being furnished with the latest and most modern equipment available and having a menu and atmosphere friendly to family dining. The building subsequently served as the Moose Lodge until ca. 1960.
