The Chronicle

This edition of the Chronicle newsletter kicks off a new school year for students at Worthington High School. The issue covers a range of topics, including matters related to academics, sports and general fun.

The front page of the newsletter includes articles on summer trips that some students participated in. Two groups of students traveled out West to study ecology; one group went to the Southwest, with a visit into Juarez, Mexico, and the other traveled to the Grand Tetons and Rocky Mountains. These weren’t the only traveling scholars; another group of WHS students visited Europe as goodwill ambassadors.

Also covered on the front page is the transfer of the freshman class to the Kilbourne Middle School building, which was to help address overcrowding issues at the high school. And beginning in the 1969-70 school year, students had the option to take on an independent study.

Pages two through four of the newsletter offer editorials, ads for local businesses, sports coverage, and lighthearted content such as a “Senior Spotlight.” Featured in this issue is Student Council president Jim Mack, who is pictured posing with his Basset hound Barbara Ann.

An ad on the front page and an inset on the second page indicate that The Chronicle was a subscription newsletter. Students paid $2 to receive 18 issues per year.
