Basic details
Background
This edition of The Chronicle includes a mix of articles, from academic and advocacy to sports and social matters. A front-page story discusses two new graduation requirements mandated by the state board of education: an increase in the number of credit requirements and completion of a nine-week drivers’ education course. There are also articles teasing school plans for Earth Day on April 22 and the May 15 junior-senior prom as well as a feature of the debate club. A photo shows students practicing for the school’s two-weekend run of “Oklahoma.” Also noted is the demise of Columbus’ Student Rights Organization.
The women’s liberation movement is the focus of two page-two editorials and a student poll. Page three includes a feature on senior Tom Long, an advice column, a poem and a tongue-in-cheek piece about hall roaming as a career.
Page four includes coverage of the school’s boys’ indoor track, wrestling and swim teams as well as the girls’ basketball team.
