Background

Colonial Hills Elementary students and parents celebrated the 1950s with a float entry in the Worthington Bicentennial Homecoming parade. Both Colonial Hills Elementary School and Worthington Industries were established 1955. The two partnered to create an "Ice Cream Float" float for the parade.

This photograph depicts "Poodle Skirt or 50's Girls". They were walkers dressed in 1950's attire. They danced to period jukebox music and spun hula-hoops. Participants in the "Poodle Skirt or 50's Girls" were Elisabeth Zimmerman, Maggie Taylor, Mary Richards, Mary Roth, Becca Long, Mackenzie and Carly Johnson, Hayley and Katherine Cross, Hannah Berridge, Katie Diehl, Ali Diehl, Madison Diehl, and Caroline Smyth.

The float was constructed by Gayle Eiselt, Al and Julia Smyth, Sheila Green, Jen Richards, Seleen and Peter Collins.
