Background

Flint Universalist Church was built in the town of Flint at 115 Park Road. It was dedicated in 1872 and served as a church until 1940. It later housed an antique store. Some restoration has been completed and it is now being used for an office as shown here. There were two churches on Flint and Park Roads during the late 1800s. Gardner Chapel, a Methodist church, began meeting in 1826 in a log schoolhouse. A brick building was erected in 1865 by Ozem Gardner. It was built on the northeast portion of his land. Gardner's church has been torn down and photographs of the structure are not available.
