Background

Laurinda Case Brelsford (b. 1830, d. 1883) is pictured wearing a mourning brooch of President Abraham Lincoln. Her parents were Scioto Company proprietor Israel Putnam Case (b. 1781, d. 1832) and Laurinda Morrison Case (b. 1790, d. 1879). She married Thomas Jefferson Brelsford (b. 1828, d. 1895) in 1851. Following their marriage they moved to Illinois, returning to Worthington at the start of the Civil War. Thomas served in Company B of the 46th Ohio Volunteer Infantry as a 1st Sergeant. They had four children, Charles Wilbur Brelsford, Ida Eliza Breslford, Minnie Lorinda Brelsford, and Thomas Sherman Brelsford.
