Max and Martha McConagha at the Worthington Business Association's Christmas Party
Basic details
Background
This photograph is of the Worthington Business Association's Christmas party, held at the historic hotel and restaurant known at that time as the Boyd Inn. In 1952, the Boyd Inn would come to be known as the Old Worthington Inn, following its lease to George Snyder.
In the photograph, Max and Martha McConagha are seated at the table in the foreground. George R. Silcott Jr. is seated at the table behind them. The woman facing left is Ruth Wright. Fred Schafer is standing in the background.
The Business Men’s Association of Worthington was organized in 1933 so that businesses could strengthen ties between their patrons and each other. George R. Silcott Sr. was the first president of the organization. In 1945, the name was changed to the Worthington Business Association, according to an article in the December 6, 1945 issue of "The Worthington News," to accommodate the fact that there were several women members of the group.
