Mary Magdelena Snouffer (b. 1784, d. 1868), widow of John Snouffer (b. ca. 1779, d. 1823, Frederick, Maryland) moved her family to Sharon Township in the early mid-1800s. The Snouffers had purchased land prior to leaving Maryland. John Snouffer died in 1823, before the family moved west. Mary M. Snouffer and her children originally settled the land which is now Don Scott Airfield. Through the 1800's parcels were bought and sold in Linworth along Rt. 161, Case and Godown Roads. The Snouffer family was among the second wave of families that migrated to the Worthington area. By 1840 the population of the State of Ohio had reached approximately 1.4 million. The grave stone pictured is that of Mary Magdelena Snouffer, located at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
