Background

This color photograph shows, from left to right, Worthington mayor Lawrence Braun, Bob Foulk and Worthington librarian Rachel Alexander on the landing of the stairs at the Old Worthington Library, May 8, 1982. Foulk and Alexander are "walking down the aisle" to their wedding ceremony, which took place on the landing, and was officiated by Braun.

At the time, the Old Worthington Library was the only location of Worthington Libraries. The wedding took place that Saturday night, after the library closed, with food contributed by library staff. The view is taken from the main floor looking down at the landing. Following a building renovation, the space at the top of the photo is now occupied by a portion of the library's children's department.

Alexander worked for Worthington Libraries from 1976 to 1985, and again from 1997 to 2008; during that time she served many roles, including community services librarian, children’s librarian, youth services manager and youth services materials selector.
