The receipt was signed by Reverend Norman N. Badger, who served as Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church at the time. The Ohio Anti-Saloon League was founded in May of 1893 in Oberlin, Ohio with the goal of reducing alcohol consumption and promoting laws that would close bars, taverns and saloons.
