Background
The Snouffer homestead is pictured with family members identified as (left to right) Joey, Leila, Ellen, Joseph (seated), and Bill (? or Stanley). The Snouffer family migrated to Perry Township from Frederick Maryland in the mid 1800s, having purchased land in the location currently occupied by Don Scott Field. Stanley Snouffer eventually settled in Worthington. Several local businesses were operated by members of the Snouffer family in the 1900s, including Snouffer Garage at 625 High St., Snouffer and Kessler (Bowling Alley and Pool Room) in the basement of the Suburban Building on High St., Snouffer Furniture Store at 688 High St., Kesler and Snouffer Painters at 800 High St., and Snouffer Dry Cleaners in the Welling Building on High St.
