Background

Stanley Snouffer (b. 1947, d. 1989), son of Paul and Hattie Snouffer, was an art teacher for Worthington Schools (1973-1989). Stan taught for several years at Thomas Worthington High School, and then finished his career at Wilson Hill Elementary. Stan died in 1989 after a long fight with AIDS. To honor his career, and how he touched so many people; students, staff, and the public, the Ohio Arts Council funded a grant to have this "computerized tile" mural constructed. Designed by artists Angie Puzo and sister-in-law Karen Frey Snouffer, the mural has many gray tiles with sketches created by students, each depicting a memory of Stan. Larger colored tiles were done by family and friends. From a distance, three faces of Stan can be seen, but as one gets closer the smaller tiles come to view sharing Stan's life.
