Water Tower for Worthington Hills in 2019
Basic details
Background
This photograph shows the water tower on the Worthington Hills Country Club property as it appeared on March 14, 2019. The exterior of the water tower is painted with white paint that shows signs of wear. The water tower would be repainted in 2020. Click on the map in the lower right corner of this page to view other scrapbook entries showing the photographic progress of its repainting.
This tower supplies water to the Worthington Hills neighborhood, and is owned and maintained by Aqua Ohio. The tower has been repainted a couple of times since 2000, but in 2020 the company sandblasted the tower and added new primer and paint. The tower was likely built in the early 1970s, and replaced a water tank that stood at that spot when development of Worthington Hills began in the early 1960s. This type of water tower is known as a "pedesphere" or "golf ball and tee" tank.
