Welcome Letter for Dublin-Worthington Rotary Club
Basic details
Background
This letter welcomes the provisional Dublin-Worthington Rotary Club to Rotary International. The club was founded by Jack A. Prior, Jr. His father was a member of Columbus Rotary, but when Jack attempted to join Rotary his business classification was already occupied at both the Columbus and Upper Arlington clubs. With the help of Columbus Rotarians Barney Barnett and Frederick Stecker, Prior and local physician Louis Goorey held the first organizational meeting of a proposed new club in May of 1974, with five prospective members and advisor Fred Stecker in attendance. By July the prospective club had reached 35 members, and the charter application was submitted to Rotary International in August. The Dublin-Worthington Rotary Club received its official acceptance via telegram on 3 September 1974.
