Background
Fourth graders at Worthington Estates School proposed a bill to the Ohio State legislature to designate the white-tailed deer as the state animal. House Bill 312 passed 92-0 in 1988. The students mailed "Deer Legislator" cards to the House members, urging them to pass the bill. The students followed the legislative process through to the floor vote, and are pictured here at the Statehouse.
