Worthington Speech Classes present Three One Act Plays
Basic details
Background
Students in Worthington High School Speech classes performed three one act plays in February 1946, under direction of teacher Eleanor Baum. One act plays were "Pig of My Dreams", "Jacob Comes Home", and "The Bride Wore Red Pyjamas". Worthington High School plays were performed in the Worthington Elementary School auditorium.
Cast member, Jack Pruden shared his memories of the one act play "Jacob Comes Home"; "I believe there was a local contest in the school which we won, followed by a Franklin County contest, a district contest, and finally an all-state contest held at OSU.
Eleanor Baum was the director, and was the teacher of all the speech classes. After winning the state contest we were precluded from going on to national because of economic stresses of the immediate post war era -- fuel, transportation, cost etc. But a school system dominated by sports at the time, it was good to have been a part of something that brought honor to the school that was from another realm."
